ROGERS WOES WON’T HELP HIM GET TO DOE: Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers’s agreement to step down amid a utility commission investigation won’t propel him to the top of a shortlist for replacing Energy Secretary Steven Chu, said Paul Bledsoe, a former Clinton White House aide, now an independent consultant. “The motivation for the administration to choose an industry figure as Energy secretary centers on gaining credibility with business audiences, and so this development would not seem to help Rogers’ case,” said Bledsoe. “Industry figures aside, an equally strong case could be made for a congressional insider as secretary who would be able to convince Congress that DOE could be reformed while finding money for key Obama energy priorities as well.”
